| Meteor Crater- this hole in the ground was caused by the damaging impact of a meteor, creating a crater with a diameter of 4000 feet, 2.4 miles in circumference. NASA and the US Geological Survey chose Meteor Crater as a site for intensive training of Apollo astronauts in the '60s and '70s. |
| Sunset Crater and Wupatki- North of Flagstaff, with the Peaks to the West, you can enjoy Sunset Crater, an intensely colored crater with nearby lava flows. Wupatki is the most impressive of the numerous Indian ruins along this day-long drive. A photographer's dream. |
